2011 saw a record 1,200 members of the community participating in the event with a further 1,500 coming along to support their loved ones and sample the amazing atmosphere that is created at this unique event.
Maccabi GB’s events manager Elizabeth Fishel said, “This is such a great achievement to reach record numbers of charities in the sixth year of the event. Year on year the event continues to break records and we are delighted to see this trend continue in 2012. This year will see London host the Olympics and Paralympics Games and this is a great way to start the London 2012 legacy.”
Martin Berliner, Maccabi GB’s CEO added, “When we launched the event in 2007 we always hoped that the Jewish Charitable sector and the community would embrace the event. The fact that we have consistently broken records year on year is a credit to all concerned. A lot of time and effort goes in to making this event a success and very special. I also think in these difficult times that it is a great project for organisations looking at a new way to raise fund.
In the current financial climate the Community Fun Run offers charities the opportunity to raise maximum funds through a unique event for the community reaching out to everyone. If you are a charity and want to join the 35 Community Organisations already registered for this year’s event please contact Elizabeth Fishel now on 020 8457 2333 or email info@communityfunrun.org.
