Myers and Warren have sights set on Maccabiah success for U18 Futsal

Maccabi GB, in partnership with UJIA and the Jewish Chronicle, is delighted to announce the latest Team Maccabi GB squad to compete at this summer’s Maccabiah Games in Israel – U18 Boys Futsal.

The Squad, managed by Laurence Myers and Scott Warren, boasts some of the best young talent in Jewish Futsal and even includes players who were part of the Gold Winning team at the 2015 European Maccabi Games in Berlin. On team selection, Warren explained “We have a good mix of experience and new comers to an international event. Ben, Luke, Mikey, Joe and Lior are new to Futsal and this is their first experience of a major Jewish international competition whereas Jamie, James, Alex and Ethan were all part of the under 16 squad who won Gold in Berlin at the European Maccabi Games.”

Speaking about his expectations for the Maccabiah Games, Myers said, “To be involved in a Maccabiah and represent our country is very special and both Scott and I are very excited about the journey ahead with our talented squad of players. We will aim to give all the boys the full Maccabiah experience both on and off the court and will be working hard over the coming months to make sure we are well prepared to have a genuine chance of the Gold in Israel.”

The squad is as follows:

Manager: Laurence Myers

Assistant Manager: Scott Warren

Joe Glaskie

James Harpin

Mikey Lebovits

Jamie Myers

Ethan Novak

Alex Rose

Ben Rosen

Luke Simpson

Lior Tapnack

Team Maccabi GB will be competing alongside 10,000 other Jewish athletes from 80 countries from 2nd – 18th July 2017.
