MGB Tenpin Bowling League
Maccabi GB Tenpin Bowling have great pleasure in announcing the start of the all new Maccabi League. Following the success of Team England at the 2007 European Maccabi Games in Rome, the committee have worked tirelessly to rebuild interest in a league for Jewish bowlers in London. A number of venues were considered to host the league, but the unanimous choice was GoBowling in Dunstable, venue for the 2008 national tournament. GoBowling league and tournament co-ordinator, Andrew Collins, was delighted that Maccabi GB selected his centre. 'The tournament held at the centre earlier this year turned out to be a great success and I am very pleased that Maccabi GB have continued its partnership with GoBowling.'
More than 35 bowlers have registered for the handicap doubles league which kicks off on Tuesday 2nd September at 8:30pm with the AGM and funbowl. The competition commences in earnest the following Tuesday. There has been interest from both regular Maccabi bowlers as well as those who were involved in the original league in the 1990s and are again looking forward to competing against fellow Jewish bowlers. Matthew Plax, chairman of MGBTB is very excited by the prospect of the new league. 'Jewish tenpin bowling has come on in leaps and bounds over the course of the past three years. I am greatly encouraged by the interest shown by so many people, both established bowlers and those new to the sport. The committee's principal aim is to facilitate the provision of a regular competitive environment for Jewish bowlers. The handicap format allows everyone to compete on a level playing field.'
