Leadership Programme Gets Off to a Swing
The Streetwise Leadership Programme hosted its Shabbaton Planning Weekend over the 27th-29th November where a total of 17 bogrim (graduates) were in attendance. The event was held at Moat Mount Outdoor Centre in North London, and was organised to further develop the team of tutors' leadership skills and begin the planning process for the Leadership Weekend, taking place over the 18th-21st December.
The team of tutors decided on an exciting theme for the Leadership Weekend and began preparing sessions for the eight individual course groups. In addition, they split into smaller groups and started to plan the 'Big' peulot that will be run on the weekend in December.
The group took part in a number of other programmes aimed at providing further training for them as tutors. These included: Child protection training, an alternative Shabbat Morning service, a Seuda focusing on Israeli current affairs, an active sports session looking at communication, a reflective Havdallah ceremony and a support programme for all new tutors.
On Saturday night, the team were treated to a night at Top Golf. Despite some of the tutors' golf performances being as horrendous as the torrential rain experienced, it was Matt Travers and Daryl Sholem who came to battle it out in an epic final. Although Matt came away with the win, through some superb precision chipping, the rest of the group didn't really seem fussed and resorted to throwing their balls into the target zones!
Leadership Manager, Sam Aboudara commented: 'The Shabbaton was hugely successful! The Bogrim Tzevet managed to build a positive group dynamic and we are all really looking forward to the Leadership Weekend in three weeks time and being able to host the Israeli Torch Relay Delegation. It is fair to say that our 70+ participants should be very excited considering what the bogrim have in store for them!'
