AKIVA SET THE NETBALL STANDARD WITH FIRST SCHOOL SPORTS TOURNAMENT WIN OF YEAR

The first Maccabi GB (MGB) and Jewish Chronicle (JC) Year 5 Netball Tournament of the Academic Year took place on Wednesday, with Akiva taking both the A team and B team title away from the competition, which was hosted for the first time at Immanuel College.

The Tournament saw 10 Primary Schools attended, bringing 17 teams. In total, over 150 girls took part in the day. The teams were separated into an A team and B team tournament with each team playing 4 fixtures.

Akiva were the dominant team in both A and B groups completing the day with 4 wins from 4.

The afternoon finished with both Akiva teams being awarded the trophy.

Maccabi GB’s School Sports Coordinator, Jordan Sapler, gave his thoughts on the afternoon’s Netball Tournament, “Today gave us our first look at the young, Jewish athletes who will be playing MGB & JC School Sports Tournaments over the coming years. The abilities on show were impressive and we are starting to see a lot more girls taking part in these events than ever before. It bodes well for the School year ahead.”
