Maccabi GB launches first ever worldwide E-sports competition

Maccabi GB is working with all 6 Confederations (continents) within Maccabi World Union, to launch the first ever worldwide Maccabi E-sports competition. 

The structure of the competition will see competitors from each country battle it out to then take on competitors within their Confederation.

Maccabi GB, competing within the Maccabi Europe stage of tournament, anticipates this will be the largest ever European E-Sports competition. With promotion across social media, the local Maccabi GB stage of the tournament has had over 140 sign ups from Great Britain alone.

Martin Berliner, Chief Executive of Maccabi GB and Maccabi Europe commented ‘We are delighted by the success the volume of registrations within Maccabi GB and can see this being emulated within other European Maccabi countries including Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, Gibraltar, Spain and Italy.  As the community’s provider in sport, health and wellbeing, it is only natural that the Organisation stretches it offering to the ever increasing popularity of E-Sports. I am delighted this is taking off not only in Maccabi Europe, but in every corner of the Maccabi world’.

Maccabi contestants from across the world have signed up from Central and Latin America, North America – Canada and USA, Australia, South Africa and Maccabi Europe.

The first knock-out rounds of the competition commenced on Monday 18th May with National Great Britain Finals due to commence on Wednesday 10th June. The continental championship is due to commence on Monday 22nd June, which will include Europe, South Africa, Australia, North American and South America. The winner of the Maccabi GB National Competition will automatically qualify for their regions continental competition while the losing finalists may get a place depending on number of entries.
