For many people a New Year is about making a fresh start and, for some, this includes a new look. Maccabi GB (MGB) – the Jewish Community’s sport, health & wellbeing organisation - has done just that as the organisation has made an exciting and innovative change to their logo, which includes a brand new strapline highlighting its role within Anglo-Jewry.
Still in the traditional ‘Maccabi colours’ of blue, the logo includes a clearer font and bolder MGB star – a symbol for which it has become synonymous. What stands out it the organisation’s new strapline, For an active Jewish Community. This has been introduced to bring together all of their various events, projects and activities and explain the purpose of why they provide sport, health & wellbeing programmes to the Community.
David Pinnick, Maccabi GB Chairman, explained, “For years now, if you were to ask ten different members of the Jewish Community exactly what Maccabi GB does they would all tell you ten different answers, none of which were wrong, but none which fully explained everything that we do. This is entirely understandable as we host over 250 projects a year ranging from sending a Delegation to the Maccabiah Games to our School Sports Provision to the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run. We also have our Community Sports Days, Health & Wellbeing events, the MGB Challenge Israel Tour and close links to Jewish Sports Clubs and Leagues, all which tie-in with the Maccabi GB name.
“We made a decision that we needed a strapline which encompasses all of these into one, simple-yet-powerful statement. To say what Maccabi GB does, but also why we do it. It also sometimes gets overlooked that we are a Jewish charitable organisation so the new strapline also reminds people that, without vital funding, we would not be able to provide the services that we do. Just as our strapline says, it is for an active Jewish Community.”
CEO of Maccabi GB, Martin Berliner, added, “We worked closely with branding experts, Creative & Commercial, who were excellent in conceiving a bright, eye-catching logo which fits in with our DNA to use alongside a strapline which we know sums up what Maccabi GB does and why we do it. The strapline is especially poignant as it has a double meaning. On one hand, we clearly provide Anglo-Jewry with means to exercise and stay healthy. On the other we provide them with avenues to engage with one another in a social setting so they are, in effect, contributing to a more cohesive community. We are very excited to have this be at the forefront of the Jewish Community’s mind when they think of us or attend one of our events.”
Maccabi GB’s new logo will appear on all marketing collateral, online & offline channels and at all projects, programmes and events going forwards. The logo will replace all current MGB branding – save the Union Jack Mogen David, which will remain in use for international sports tournaments – and will also be distributed to all MGB affiliates, clubs and sports leagues to use in correlation with their current branding.
