An announcement from Manchester Jewish Soccer League Chairman, Paul Rose In the MJSL last Sunday, Reich Masters beat Haroldeans in the Harold Feldman Cup in what can only be described as the biggest upset in years and was totally deserved. Reich languish at the bottom of the league whilst Haroldeans are champions and had already won a cup final last week.
Captain Jake Hadden scored a cracker just before half time and doubled the lead with an excellent header not long after the break. Haroldeans rallied and pulled one back through Max Barnett with 5 minutes remaining then Marcus Nezri equalised 3 mins after to send the game to penalties. Amazingly Reich scored 3 out of 3 and the Merseysiders had two kicks saved by Leo Adleman and one hit the bar to make it a 3-0 win from the spot.
Pictured above are Reich celebrating in light blue.
An announcement from Maccabi Southern Football League Chairman, David Wolff We are now in the final furlong of what has been a most challenging season but, thanks to the endeavours of the majority of our teams, we can complete the course. The final Sunday of fixtures are on June 27th.
The Premier and Second divisions will go down to the wire but I must congratulate LONDON BEARS who have secured the First Division title and to HERTSWOOD VALE who will be promoted alongside them.
I will make mention of the other two divisions next week when they have been decided.
We are still awaiting the outcome of the second semi-final, but congratulations are due to HENON UNITED SPORTS for yet another appearance in this seasons CYRILANEKSTEIN CUP FINAL. The Final will be played on WENNESDAY JUNE 30TH at the home of HENDON FC, TOWNSEND LANE, KINGSBURY, NW9 7NE. The KO time is 7.45pm.
This competition has had to be played midweek and I would like to thank all the participants for their co-operation in doing this.
On another front, thing look very promising for next season, which will start on the second Sunday of September. It looks as if we will be in excess of 30 teams. We have other exciting plans in the pipeline.
I want to make mention of our sanctioning association the LONDON FOOBALL ASSOCIATION. We have been members since Sunday football was recognised by the FA in 1962 and I have served on the Council continuously since 1970 in several capacities including that of VICE CHAIRMAN for eleven years and the FINANCE COMMITTEE. I still serve on disciplinary hearings which is the negative but essential side of the work we do. My favourite committee is the CUP COMPETITIONS where I also served as Chairman and still serve on it to this day. On that note, I do love to encourage our teams to enter the various cups we promote and it’s a great way to meet up with other areas of the football world. Since 1997, I have served as a Vice President and this status now been re-designated to LIFE VICE PRESIDENT. I am very proud to have achieved this. Sadly, no one else from Maccabi serves on the LFA and I would like this to change especially for us to have a presence on the YOUTH COUNCIL.
I also treasure the fact that I am a VICE-PRESIDENT of Maccabi GB. A wonderful communal and World Wide organisation.
Let me wish everyone a great last weekend of 2020-21 and hope there are no COVID related disruptions next year.
