Maccabi GB, in partnership with UJIA and the Jewish Chronicle, is delighted to announce the U16 Boys Futsal squad who will represent Team Maccabi GB at this summer’s European Maccabi Games in Budapest.
Speaking about squad selection and aims for the Games, Warren said, “Winning Silver at the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel was a special achievement and still gives me goosebumps thinking about it. The squad have been training very hard weekly since September and we will go strong, prepared and ready for the job in hand. We have a great mix of players, some who have been involved in the futsal fraternity for a number of years and some new to the game that we saw potential in being able to adapt to the fast skillful side of futsal. Our aim is to defend our Gold medal achieved by my U16 squad 4 years ago in Berlin, connect to our Jewish Identity as a team and make friends from all over the world.”
Nagioff added, “As always, it is an honour to be selected to represent Maccabi GB at an International Games and can’t wait for the Games to begin.”
The squad is as follows:
Manager: Scott Warren
Assistant Manager: Jamie Nagioff
Coach: Tamas Gynei
Team Maccabi GB will be competing alongside 3,000 other Jewish athletes from across Europe and Israel, Australia and America from 28th July – 7th August 2019.
