The latest Maccabi GB (MGB) & Jewish Chronicle (JC) School Sports Tournament ended in success for Wolfson Hillel, as they triumphed against 11 other schools to win the Primary Schools Girls Year 6 Netball A and B competition on Wednesday.
The event, at Immanuel School, was one of the largest of its kind as it welcomed 12 schools, who brought 21 teams to play between them. In total, over 160 young people were engaged.
Hillel were the dominant team in both A and B groups completing the day with 4 wins from 4.
The afternoon concluded with the medals presentation and the trophy was awarded to both Wolfson Hillel teams.
Maccabi GB’s School and Sports Coordinator, Alex Elf, spoke about the numbers engaged in the girl’s competition, “To see 160 young girls competing in a Maccabi GB tournament is a massive achievement for women’s sport in our Community. We are looking forward to future girl’s tournaments where we hope the number of participants will keep on rising. Maccabi GB has invested heavily in encouraging more women and girls to play sport and we hope this will be the start of many a sporting career for these players. We’d like to thank all the teachers and parents that came and supported their teams. Finally, congratulations to Wolfson Hillel with both teams winning”.
