Maccabi GB's 'Tackling Antisemitism in Sport' project launched in September 2023 in partnership with the Office of HM Government's Independent Adviser on Antisemitism. The project is actively addressing antisemitism within the realm of British sports, initially concentrating on the football pyramid. The initiative seeks to explore educational opportunities as part of governing bodies' equality and diversity training networks. The Project's goal is to involve Sports Clubs, Organisations, Leagues, and more in educating themselves about the historical context and contemporary manifestations of antisemitism. Through this, it aims to empower these entities with the knowledge and tools necessary to recognise and combat antisemitism within a sporting environment.

 What are the distances/events?

  • There is a 1KM run, 5KM run, 5KM walk & 10KM course option.

  • The 1KM will start and finish on the track. The 5KM & 10KM route will start and finish on the fields through mainly flat grassy fields around StoneX stadium.

  • 1KM  – The route is 2 and half times around the track in the stadium. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of age, ability, or if you have children in a buggy.

  • 5KM Run – Challenge yourself with our 5KM route situated on flat grassy fields.

  • 5KM Walk – Want to take in the scenic greenery as you walk around? This is ideal for those who may not consider themselves as distance runners but are happy walking with friends and family.

  • 10KM – This route is 2 laps of the 5KM route and is generally recommended for the more serious and regular distance runners.

Please note, the 5KM & 10KM routes are not wheelchair or buggy friendly. Please contact the Maccabi GB office on 0208-457-2333 to discuss further.

There will be water stations on the 5KM and 10KM routes, however we recommend running or walking with your own water bottle as well.

Do I have to be super-fit to participate?

No. Adults, children and families are all welcome as The Maccabi GB Community Fun Run & Israel Festival is aimed at every fitness level.

There is a choice of either a 1KM run/walk, 5KM Run, 5KM walk or 10KM course, so absolutely anybody can participate, from the youngest to the oldest…so no excuses!

Will there be a prize for the winner of each race?

Every runner will receive a Maccabi GB Community Fun Run & Israel Festival medal.

Will there be chip timing?

As this is an inclusive event, we will not be measuring every participant's time through chip timing.
