Our history

Maccabi GB is today one of the country's largest and most innovative Jewish Charities. We aim to deliver a broad range of Sporting, Educational and Social events for the whole of the Jewish community with the ethos of Jewish continuity and the centrality of Israel as our primary motivation.

We have been running our programme in this country for over 80 years and as a charity this has been achieved only as a result of the support of a large group of dedicated volunteers and financial support from both the community and government funding.

We act as an umbrella organisation for affiliated Centres, Leagues and Clubs and partner over 300 schools, organisations and charities.

Our home

In June 2022, Maccabi GB officially opened their brand-new state of the art offices and community space in Kenton, The Stanley Cohen OBE Centre. It is with thanks to generous donors that the refurbishment could happen. This includes The Stanley Cohen Charitable Trust who the new refurbished building will be named after, the Betty Messenger Charitable Foundation who have generously sponsored the renovation work on the Sports Hall on the first floor and Mark Tucker and The Family of Sergeant Leslie Luck who are generously supporting the installation of a brand-new accessible lift, the Marjorie & Arnold Ziff Charitable Foundation, The Pierre Gildesgame Memorial Fund and The Rind Foundation.

The building will serve as Maccabi GB’s headquarters; it will provide a base for hosting a wide range of sports, health & wellbeing activities which already engage over 50,000 people on an annual basis. The ground floor will house offices and community space and the first floor contains a purpose-built sports and community hall.
