Shine for Shani
Shine for Shani is a family-run charity that raises money to help improve the lives and life chances of children with serious heart conditions. It was set up in 2018 by the family and friends of an adorable, inspiring little girl called Shani Berman who sadly died before her 6th birthday following open heart surgery for her complex heart condition.
The charity's aim is to raise money to help Great Ormond Street Hospital and other centres of excellence in paediatric cardiology and research help other heart children live full and happy lives. The charity is proud to have already provided a new ECMO heart and lung machine for the GOSH intensive care unit, supported research into transplant outcomes at the GOSH Institute of Health and funded an exciting state-of-the-art Holoscope for the Schneider Children’s Centre in Israel, among other projects.
Currently we are working to raise £100,000 to help create a state-of-the-art cardiac theatre at GOSH which will improve patient care, streamline workflows and enhance surgical visualisation to improve safety and outcomes.
In Shani's memory we aim to achieve something special that improves the lives of children with "magic hearts" and ensure that something positive and important comes out of the sad loss of a precious girl.
