Amy Wagner joins the Maccabi GB Board

16th April 2024, London - Maccabi GB is delighted to announce that Amy Wagner has joined the organisation’s Board of Trustees.

Amy Wagner is Special Advisor to Lord Mann, HM Government’s Independent Adviser on Antisemitism.  Through her role, Amy provides advice and counsel to Lord Mann in his strategic planning and leads on a number of policy areas including on antisemitism in sport.  Amy has helped coordinate the adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism by football, the formation of the Kick It Out Working Group on Antisemitism, chaired by Lord Mann and the programme of antisemitism education within football.

Amy works closely with football governing bodies, football clubs and Jewish supporter groups, advising on any gaps in systems and structures to help combat antisemitism.

In September 2023, Maccabi GB launched its ‘Tackling Antisemitism in Football’ Project, in partnership with The Office of HM Government’s Independent Adviser on Antisemitism and Amy has played a significant role in its success to date.

Amy commented “I am delighted to be joining the Maccabi GB board as a trustee. Maccabi GB is a vital organisation for the Jewish community both within sport and education. At a time where antisemitism and discrimination are on the rise, Maccabi GB’s work on tackling antisemitism in sport has never been more important. Sport has the potential to create a huge amount of positive change in society and I am proud to be supporting Maccabi GB to make this happen.”

Speaking on the appointment, Maccabi GB Chairman Jonathan Prevezer said, “I am so pleased that Amy has accepted the position of Trustee on our Maccabi GB Board. Over the last couple of years, we have been appointing Trustees with specific expertise to enhance the work that we do and I am absolutely certain that Amy will be an invaluable member of the Board.”

Lord Mann said of the appointment “I am very pleased that Amy is joining the Maccabi GB board.  Amy’s values and experience align perfectly with the work of Maccabi GB in combating antisemitism within sport. I have no doubt her addition will serve the Organisation and the community in an extremely positive way.”

Maccabi GB CEO Ashley Lerner said “I am delighted that Amy is joining the Board.  Having worked closely with her over recent years, I know Amy will bring an incredible strategic and specialist experience to the Organisation.  Sport can play such an important role in eradicating antisemitism, but we must also ensure that antisemitism is eradicated in sport.”
