Following on from the highly successful end to February, where we trained the Head Stewards at Anfield, home of Liverpool Football Club, ahead of their midweek Premier League fixture against Newcastle (see pictures), the first half of March was taken as a time for the Tackling Antisemitism in Sport project to regroup and plan for a final push at the end of the football season.

We spent some time working with Lord Mann and his team to discuss strategy and how to engage clubs who have not yet had any training on antisemitism in football. This resulted in a strong push, working with organisations such as Kick It Out, The FA and EFL, to get these clubs on the attendance list for our Regional Antisemitism in Football workshop, hosted by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, in partnership with Kick It Out.
On top of this, we also provided our workshops for the staff of high-flyers Brighton and Hove Albion, and for the senior safety, safeguarding, wellbeing and EDI teams at Fulham Football Club, ahead of their Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur.
Most significantly, however, was the workshop we ran at the end of the month. The antisemitism in football workshop we ran for the staff of Southampton marked the occasion of every Premier League club having had training on the topic of antisemitism, which was one of our KPIs set out by our Project Manager at the start of the season. We are excited to build on this work with club-wide workshops across the Premier League clubs who have now all had their introduction to our work.
Looking through to next month, we will look to continue our work in football, and after Pesach, we will be attending March of the Living on their ‘football bus’. More details about this to follow.
