Student Sport
Over the past month, we have placed particular emphasis on developing our relationship with the UJS Sport team. Initial conversations have been really positive, with a shared goal of growing opportunities for Jewish students to engage with sport at universities nationwide. This collaboration will not only provide more competitive and recreational options for students while at university but will also help to create stronger links between student activity and the wider Maccabi GB sporting community. By building this pathway, we aim to ensure that students remain connected to Jewish sport during their studies and beyond.
Schools
Within schools, significant progress has been made in two key areas. Firstly, the re-writing of our school curriculum is underway. This refreshed programme is being designed to keep our delivery relevant, engaging and fully aligned with the National Curriculum, while continuing to promote Jewish values and sporting excellence. Secondly, we have begun the development of a brand-new tournament registration system. Once launched, this system will allow schools to register teams with far greater ease, while also simplifying the invoicing and payment process. The aim is to reduce administrative burdens for schools and staff, giving teachers and pupils more time to focus on enjoying the events themselves.
Community Sport

Our biggest focus this month has been in community sport, where we have seen exciting developments across multiple areas. A highlight was the Maccabi GB Walking Football Community Event, run in partnership with the Maccabi GB Strollers Walking Football Club. The day brought together 90 players from nine teams, including Manchester Maccabi, Borehamwood FC and Redbridge. It was a brilliant celebration of sport and community, with Liberal Reformers crowned tournament winners and Manchester Maccabi lifting the Plate. Importantly, players also raised funds for the Maccabi GB Endowment Fund, adding a philanthropic impact to the sporting success.
Another milestone was the launch of the first-ever Maccabi GB Community Padel Tournament. With all 32 places sold out well in advance, this event has shown the real appetite for new and exciting sports within the community, and we are looking forward to building on its success.
As summer comes to a close, our community clubs are starting up again. We have been working on developing new basketball clubs to widen participation, while some of our most established leagues are now ready to return. The Maccabi GB Southern Football League, the Maccabi Masters Football League and the Maccabi GB Junior Netball League will all be back in action over the coming weeks, providing opportunities for hundreds of participants to get involved in regular, competitive Jewish sport.

It’s inspiring to see Maccabi GB building such strong pathways between students, Slither io schools, and the wider community through sport. The mix of new initiatives and long-standing leagues shows real commitment to both innovation and tradition.
