Maccabi GB Collaborates with Cohesion Chemistry, Enfield Multi Faith Forum and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to Host Year 6 Football Tournament

Maccabi GB were delighted to collaborate with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and Andrew Gilbert, CEO of Cohesion Chemistry and Co Lead of Enfield Multi Faith Forum to host a Year 6 Football Tournament at the Tottenham Hotspur training ground.

The event brought together 80 pupils from eight schools across the local community, including Alma, Eden Primary, Hertsmere Jewish Primary School, Sacks Morasha, Nancy Reuben, Rosh Pinah, Sinai and Wolfson Hillel, representing the boroughs of Barnet, Hertsmere, Enfield, Haringey and Brent.

Following a fantastic day of football, teamwork and community spirit:

  • Winners: Rosh Pinah

  • Runners Up: Wolfson Hillel

The tournament aimed to provide young people with an opportunity to enjoy competitive sport in an inclusive and positive environment, while also strengthening connections between schools and communities.

Andrew Gilbert has been working closely with the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation on this and similar activities, with the hope that this will be the first of many opportunities for Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and the Jewish community to work together.

Andrew Gilbert said:

“It has been fantastic to see so many young people come together through sport in such a positive environment. We hope this is the beginning of many more collaborative opportunities between the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and the Jewish community. Maccabi GB have once again demonstrated their outstanding skillset, reach and ability to deliver meaningful community engagement programmes.”

Philip Rudling, Head of Programmes at the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation said:

“We were delighted to host and run this tournament with Maccabi GB at the club's fantastic training facility in Enfield.  It's always great to engage our local communities and give children an opportunity to play on world class pitches - some of the group also met Ben Davies on the day, that made the occasion even better.”

Ian Aarons, Trustee at Maccabi GB, said:

“This afternoon’s tournament was a fantastic example of Maccabi GB running activities for our Jewish schools and the wider community, it was great to bring together Jewish children of all sporting abilities and from a wide range of different schools and present them the opportunity to play at such a fantastic venue”

Jordan Sapler, Head of Sport, Health and Wellbeing at Maccabi GB, said:

“We were delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to some of our schools, we’re grateful for the teachers and parents who gave up their half-terms to help us make this happen. We look forward to working with Andrew Gilbert and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation on more of these events in the future

Maccabi GB also thanks all participating schools, staff and organisers for helping to make the event such a success.
