It has been another productive and rewarding month across all areas of the Maccabi GB Sports Department.
In the schools space, we are pleased to confirm that the scheduling for the next academic year of school tournaments has been completed and will be circulated to schools shortly. This planning will help ensure another successful calendar of events across the Jewish school network. We have also commenced a four-week pilot of PE lessons at Gesher School, focusing on tennis skills for their primary school pupils, which runs alongside our ongoing weekly sessions with their secondary students. In addition, we continue to deliver high-quality PE provision in three other Jewish schools, engaging over 700 pupils each week in structured, inclusive, and skill-building sessions led by our experienced coaching team.
Across the community, preparations are progressing for the upcoming Maccabi GB Community Fun Run, and we are currently in discussions with grassroots clubs to host exhibition and taster sessions on the day. Walking Football and Pickleball are among the sports planned to be showcased, offering accessible and enjoyable opportunities for participants of all ages and abilities. This month has also seen a particular focus on the development of girls’ and women’s football. We have met with a newly established social groups, London Chayil Ladies, we will be partnering with them to help their growth and development and are coordinating a meeting with key figures in the Jewish women’s football community to explore the potential of launching a dedicated women’s league. Meanwhile, the prestigious Peter Morrison Cup Final – the Jewish FA Cup Final – will take place at Wingate & Finchley FC, where HMH will face London Lions Masters in what promises to be a highly anticipated fixture.

On the students front, we were pleased to support UJS with the delivery of the Inter-JSoc Football Cup Final, contributing to a successful and well-organised event. We were also honoured to be invited to sponsor and present the UJS Sports Club/Person of the Year Award at the UJS Student Awards. The award was proudly presented to Tamzin Lester, a former participant in our Leadership by Streetwise programme – a moment that highlights the long-term impact of our work with young people in the community.
