Our 100 strong delegation members arrived in Buenos Aires ready to start the Pan American Games on the 27th December 2023. Led by General Team Manager Andrew Myers, with support from Danny Schindler, Assistant General Team Manager & Daniel Jacobs, Football Chair.
Alongside this fantastic management team, we also cannot forget the incredible support that Sally, Ethan and Joseph Myers also provided. With their bilingual skills– they were able to make sure the smooth sailing of all logistics whilst on the ground in Argentina.
Our teams consisted of two masters football teams, the 45+ and the 55+ led by Laurence Newman & Richard Baum and by Arthur Duke & Frank Steinberg respectively.
Our Open & Masters Tennis which was led by Sam Cohen, had fantastic success with Louise Agran, Caroline Clapper, Sam Cohen & Samantha Cohen all bringing home a medal.
Golf which was led by Joy Barnett with athlete Jonny Bentwood. Jonny came home with a silver medal in the Gross Masters Golf.
Nizza Fluss, our Maccabiah Masters Swimming superstar, went out and won two gold medals & a silver in Freestyle and backstroke.
Lastly, for the first time ever, we took an Open Netball team to the games, led by Debbie Colton, who picked up the silver medal in a final against Australia.
The success for the Games is not just about the medals and the sport, but building and creating firm friendships and links within the Jewish Maccabi diaspora. This has been our most successful Pan Am Games for Team GB and we want to make sure we build on this for future Games.
